to me it is pretty meaningless argument.. blog is derieved from weBLOG. these 22 words aim at putting creativity to the language of English, to make them more expressive and lively. Prehaps the English(U.K) wouldn't like it, but American wise, it will not be a problem for acceptance.
one classic is ICQ; which essentially means "I Seek you.." and its geniusity gives rise to other descendent such as :
