Bukit Piton was once a degraded forest. Thankfully, after years of reforestation efforts spearheaded by WWF-Malaysia and the Sabah Forestry Department, the reserve is now able to support wildlife, especially its orangutan inhabitants.
<br />
<br />
Many of orangutan's forest homes are in danger of rapid development and conversion of land.
<br />
<br />
The total projected cost to restore 150 hectares of degraded forests in Sabah, namely Trusan Sugut Class 1 Forest Reserve is approximately RM 3.1 million.
<br />
<br />
Did you know the orangutan is one of the slowest reproducing species in the world, usually giving birth to just one infant every six to eight years ? This makes them highly prone to extinction as it takes a long time for their population to recover from decline. Thus, saving this critically endangered Bornean Orangutans requires continuous and collaborative efforts.
<br />
<br />
As a mostly fruit eating species, the orangutan plays a key role in forest regeneration as it disperses seeds which help regenerate more fruit trees. Unfortunately, with illegal logging and deforestation, these agile tree-climbing mammals are living in degraded and isolated patches of forests where food and shelter are limited.
<br />
<br />
Aside from restoration efforts, another method to address this threat is the building of ecological corridors to facilitate the movement of orangutans and other species between isolated patches of forest to find food, shelter and mates. We have now identified nine ecological corridors requiring connectivity, with at least four being crucial to the orangutan survival in Sabah.<br />

<br />
This <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86JL9-UdZfQ" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Youtube</a> shares 4 stories of Lord Buddha, I like to elaborate to you one of the story which I particularly like.
<br />
<br />
During Buddha's time, a woman brought a dead baby and requested Lord Buddha to revive the child.
<br />
<br />
Buddha said he would do what was necessary, however, he would need a vital ingredient to bring about the resurrection.
<br />
<br />
Lord Buddha requested the woman to source salt from a house who has never seen death.
The woman went through house by house, started with great joy, but to no end she could find such a house.
<br />
<br />
At the end of the day, she went back kneeling in front of Lord Buddha and said that she understood the lesson - she is not the only person in the world who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
<br />
<br />
The moral of the story: Everyone has to go through pain in their life - pain, loss, depression are part of life.
<br />
<br />
Be grateful today and always be compassionate to others and try to understand the pain of others - everybody has problems in life.

<br />
<br />
Eastern group : The Penans from Kubaan-Puak Forest Management Unit - they live mainly in Baram and Tutoh regions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://archivelikeyou.com/files/fullimages/Our-Jungle--Home-Penan_1MB.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://archivelikeyou.com/files/fullimages/Our-Jungle--Home-Penan_1MB.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Western group: they live mainly in the Belaga region of Sarawak, Malaysia.
<br />
<br />
This indigenous people of Sarawak used to live by the following nomadic culture:
<br />
<ul>
<li>Do not have permanent settlements,
</li>
<li>Do not farm, living mainly by foraging forest resources.
</li>
</ul>
<br />
Nevertheless, as of today, only a small group of Penans are nomadic.
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
The Penans are guardian of the forest because of the 'molong' system which lives in their blood - 'Molong' is the Penan's traditional social rules of managing the accessibility, distribution and ownership of the forest and its resources, only taking what is necessary from an area that is owned, or where these activities are allowed - it is the way the Penan community ensures that the forest and its resources are sustain-ably managed.
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.pandashop.my/penantribe/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.pandashop.my/penantribe/</a><br />
<br />
The Penans depends on the for basic needs - shelter, food such as wild sago, tapioca, fish and edible fruits as well as tools like traditional blowpipe and poison darts.
<br />
<br />
Penans also made handicrafts such as woven baskets, bags, mats and bangles.
<br />
<br />
<b>Kubaan-Puak Forest Management Unit:</b>
<br />
<br />
The forest of Kubaan-Puak has become an important turning point for the WWF's work in Sarawak. It is one of the corridors that will eventually connect two major protected areas in Sarawak, Mulu and Pulong Tau National Parks, as well as form a corridor that links these areas across state and international borders to Sabah, Brunei and Kalimantan in the Heart of Borneo.
<br />
<br />
The Kubaan-Puak Forest Management Unit is a project which is based on the concept of High Conservation Values (HCVs) - the idea was to identify high conservation values in the forest and to protect, enhance or restore them against <a href="http://news.jrn.msu.edu/ejmagazine/2010/05/04/plight-of-the-penan-deforestation-forces-a-malaysian-indigenous-tribe-to-abandon-ancestral-lands/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">logging activities</a> pertaining to the forest.

When elephants bump into a familiar herd, they will rejoice with loud trumpets through gestures such as a tilt of the head or flap of the ear.
<br />
<br />
In 2005, WWF- Malaysia and Sabah Wildlife Deparment set ou on an elephant satellite tracking project to place satellite collars on adult female elephants that are at least six feet tall and weighs approximately one tonne.
<br />
<br />
Recently, our ranges John Japil and Julian Herman tracked down a magnificent female whom we named “Brumas” after the plantation where we placed a satellite collar on her. I am pleased to report that Brumas and her family were seen enjoying a salad of grass and other tasty plants in a wildlife-friendly oil palm plantation in Brumas, Tawau.
<br />
<br />
The Borneo elephant is an umbrella species that play important role in maintaining the biodiversity of the ecosystem in which they live in. These mega gardeners are excellent seed dispersers that help regenerate our forests. As their diet includes forest fruits, these seeds pass through their digestive system and are deposited far and wide, thereby helping the spread of new plants and tress which serves as food and shelter for other wildlife in the area!
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
When we protect umbrella species such as elephants, we also protect its habitat.
<br />
<br />
Just three years ago, 14 Borneo elepehants were found dead in the Gunung Rara Forest Reserve which is adjacent to a forest which was converted into oil palm plantation. Poisoining was suspected to be the cause of this tragedy because plantation workers allegedly poisoned the elephants as retribution for damages to their crops.
<br />
<br />
Elephants can eat up to 150kg of vegetation per day, feeding mostly on palms, grasses and wild bananas. Sadly, their quest for food puts the animals in continual conflict with humans.
<br />
<br />
Borneo elephants are a far-ranging species; therefore satellite tracking is one of the most effective ways to obtain information on their movement patterns. Once the collar has been fitted on an elephant, it will send the location of its wearer to WWF-Malaysia via satellite positioning as often as every two hours daily.
<br />
<br />
The information obtained from the satellite collar will help us to advocate for their protection of their key habitats and their establishment of corridors to connect fragmented habitats. Knowledge of their movements will also help us to recommend HEC mitigation options to the Sabah Wildlife Department and to plantation companies involved in this conflict.
<br />
<br />
Data from the collaring projects shows us movement of the herd. If a herd moves slowly, it could be because the herd has a new born and the mother is nursing its baby.

Having plentiful rainfall each year, many of us may not understand or appreciate where the water that flows from our taps really comes from.<br />
<br />
Did you know that 97% of all the water on earth is actually salt water ? With only a small proportion of freshwater left, even then 2/3 of that is unavailable for our use because it is frozen in glaciers and ice sheets. As a result, we only have access to about 1% of freshwater and this little amount is all we have to meet the needs of more than 7 billion people on the planet.<br />
<br />
Most of our water resources starts its incredible journey in a catchment area long before it reach the water taps in our houses.<br />
<br />
A water catchment is an area where water primarily from rainfall is collected by the landscape such as highland forests and hills. It will then feed the water into streams and rivers that flow through the area.<br />
<br />
Our highland forests such as Fraser's Hill and Ulu Muda in Peninsual Malaysia and Upper Baleh in Sarawak are some of the prime water catchment areas that play a vital role in supplying clean water to the population within the respective areas.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Unfortunately, we are faced with external factors which threaten the well-being of the freshwater ecosystem, such as :<br />
<ul>
<li>Unsustainable highland development</li>
<li>Deforestation</li>
<li>Slopes clearing</li>
<li>Pollution to rivers </li>
</ul>
<br />
<a href="http://wwf.org.my/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">WWF-Malaysia</a> is hard at work towards addressing the threats and issues through various conservation initiatives, such as:<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Youth engagement<br /> <br />"Love Our Rivers" drawing and storyboard competition from Mar 2014 to Dec 2015.</li>
<br />
<li>River Ranger programme<br /> <br />9-month programme that was launched in collaboration with Community Development Unit of Ranau's local district office in Dec 2015. The purpose is to train local communities living near Sugut River in Sabah as River Rangers who will be the guardians of the river within their area.</li>
<br />
<li>Sustainable hydropower development at Upper Baleh, Sarawak<br /> <br />Joint scientific expedition with the Forest Department of Sarawak, the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation from University of Malaysia Sarawak and Sarawak Energy Berhad.</li>

The ingested seeds passed through their digestive system and are deposited far and wide, thereby helping the spread of new plants and trees which serves as food and shelter for other wildlife in the area.<br />
<br />
These elephants, found only in Borneo, are shy and generally avoid people as much as possible. they are considered to be more gentle-natured than their Asian cousins in Peninsular Malaysia. As adults, these forest herbivores can eat up to 150 kg of vegetation per day, feeding mostly on palms, grasses and wild bananas. They also love durian and will rool the entire fruit - spikes and all - in mud, then swallow it whole !<br />
<br />
The Borneo elephant currently falls under Schedule 1 of Sabah Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997 which makes it a totally protected animal. Yet, there is still heart-breaking news of elephant deaths every year due to two primary threats which are forest conversions resulting in lost of habitat and human-elephant conflicts.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
WWF is hard at work to campaign for this cause, currently their initiatives include:<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Conduct elephant satellite collaring - tracking and monitoring elephants for looming dangers</li>
<li>Promote co-existence between humans and wildlife</li>
<li>Establishment of wildlife corridors to connect fragmented habitats</li>
<li>Collaborated with government and non-government agencies</li>

Recently, my hairstylist introduced me to this seemingly silver bullet - <a href="http://www.kerastase.com/en/hair-care-densifique/serum-jeunesse" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Kerastase DENSIFIQUE SÉRUM JEUNESSE - Hair Youth Activator Serum</a> which claims to be able to help with all my problems - I was skeptical though but I purchased it to try out at the cost of RM 300 per bottle.
<br />
<br />
After one month, I found it to work wonder.
<br />
<br />
It is able to promote fast hair growth, somehow reduced grey hair and the best part is it soften my coarse hair.

Although it was a result of unusual heavy rainfall, it was likely exacerbated by the extensive loss of forests which in turn accelerated the sedimentation of rivers due to surface runoffs from extensive land clearing.
<br />
<br />
Forests, being the largest terrestrial storage of carbon and the third largest source of carbon emissions after coal and oil, play a vital role in the fight against global warming. Forest lost contributes up to 20% of global carbon emissions - more than the total emissions of all the cards, trucks, trains, planes and ships in the world combined. Climate change in turn may damage forests, for instance by drying out tropical rainforests and increasing fire damage on the forests.
<br />
<br />
Situated in Northern Perak, Belum-Temengor is approximately 130 million years old and is thought to be one of the oldest rainforests in the world. Encompassing an area of about four times the size of Singapore, it is one of the only three priority sites for tigers under the National Tiger Conservation Action Plan for Malaysia.
<br />
<br />
The Belum-Temengor forst is also home to all 10 hornbill species found in Malaysia and is an important habitat for large mamals such as the Malayan tiger, gaur, sambar deer and elephant. The only permanent human inhabitants within Belum-Temengor are the indigenous Orang Asli.
<br />
<br />
However, at the moment, only Roayl Belum State Park has been gazetted as a protected area, whilst Temengor Forest Reserve is still designated for logging.

<br />
People are taking 'mandatory' annual leaves all over the place.<br />
<br />
I went to Amway (Jalan 223)to collect items, but was met with too big a crowd and too slow the processing - seems like the workers have gone on mandatory holiday.

Anyway, what I saw over there was 1Malaysia - national unity - nobody actually complains.

<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.fomen123.com/fo/fojiao/yuzhou/9569.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.fomen123.com/fo/fojiao/yuzhou/9569.html</a><br />
<br />
Also it is mentioned about the creator.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.fomen123.com/fo/fojiao/yuzhou/9612.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.fomen123.com/fo/fojiao/yuzhou/9612.html</a>
<br />
<br />
In nutshell (based on the text as spoken by Lord Buddha), the universe was subjected to big-bang creation after which the old world (previous universe) was subjected to destruction, nonetheless, the destruction left out certain realms and one of such is known as the 光音 heaven which was where human origins came from.
<br />
<br />
After the destruction of the previous world, the big-bang happened and earth was created along with the sun, moon and other planets known and unknown to modern science.
<br />
<br />
Heavenly beings from 光音 heaven whose heavenly life had almost come to an end, were lured by the virginity of planet earth and decided to come forth to venture out of the heaven.
<br />
<br />
Once they settled, they found themselves trapped and unable to go back and hence lived on.
<br />
<br />
According to the text, all human ancestors came straight from 光音 heaven were light skinned color and today's human complexion was a result of different lifestyles, mindsets, influence from the weather and other factors.
<br />

<br />
<br />
A man approached his teacher and started complaining non-stop, he kept on and on, the teacher listened and didn’t attempt to interrupt him. At one point, the teacher gave him a bucket full of water. Without much hesitation, the man took the bucket, holding it and kept on complaining.
<br />
<br />
Not long after that, the man was exhausted and slowed down, the teacher intervened and asked “don’t you feel heavy holding this bucket full of water ?” The man replied “Yes, very heavy.” The teacher said “ then why don’t you put it down ?”
<br />
<br />
From then on, the man put down all his sufferings and continued with life.

<br />
1.) No matter how much you earn, always remember to divide it into five parts proportionately - living expenses, socializing, education, holiday and investment. Suppose your monthly income is only RMB 2,000, you can live well. I can help you put money into five sets of funds. The first $600, second $400, third $300, fourth $200, fifth $500.
<br />
<br />
2.) Being able to smile when being slightly misunderstood is good upbringing. When you’re wronged and you smile with calmness, it is generosity. When you’re being taken advantage of and you can smile, you’re being open-minded. When you are helpless and you can do a philosophical smile, you’re in a calm state. When you’re in distress and you can laugh out loud, you’re being generous. When you’re looked down and you can calmly smile, you’re being confident. When you’re being jilted in relationships and you can smile it off, you’re being suave.
